At the end of the Fifth Form of the secondary education every student will be awarded the Secondary School Certificate & Profile (SSC&P). This SSC&P will contain important information pertaining to your daughter/son’s achievements during these five years of secondary education. The SSC&P certificate has three levels: Level 1, Level 2,and Level 3 recognised by the Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) and the European Qualifications Framework (EQF). However, if a student does not qaulify for a SSC&P of Level 1 or 2 or 3, he/she will be awarded a certificate which does not carry a level and which will only indicate that he/she has finished his/her secondary education course. This certificate will not be recognised by the MQF and EQF. The established criteria for a student to be awarded a SSC&P of Level 1 or 2 or 3  are as follows:

  1. Attendance:

The SSC&P is being regarded as a Certificate of Accomplishment.  The attendance rate will be recorded on the SSC&P Transcript but will no longer have an impact on the level being awarded.  Thus the attendance of the student is not mandatory to obtain a level and does not effected the total marks obtained.

  1. Formal Learning:

Formal learning is being retained as the only requirement to be awarded an accredited level. This section carries 65% and contains all the annual examination marks that the student obtains during his/her five year secondary school course in all the subjects studied.  The student must at least obtain a pass mark in each of the core subjects, that is  Maltese, English and Mathematics and a science subject (chemistry, biology or physics).

  1. Informal Learning & Non–Formal Learning:

The Holistic educational journey is to be enriched by the participation in the non-Formal and Informal learning, as these contribute to the aquisition of soft skills and character formation. Although these may impact positely in terms of level attainment, however they do not hinder students from attaining an accredited level.

Informal Learning:

This section carries 15% and records the courses/organisations attended by the student AFTER SCHOOL HOURS. These activities are not Mandatory  to obtain a level however each activity performed will contribute in the following manner:

5% will be awarded for every year in which one or more informal activity is undertaken, up to a maximum of 15% for 3 separate years

Non–Formal Learning:

These include the MID DAY BREAK ACTIVITIES attended regularly by the student during the scholastic year. They are not mandatory to obtain a level. However 20%  is awarded only to students who  have 4 years or more with at least a Non-Formal activity, whilst the remaining students will obtain 4%  for each year in which they have a Non Formal activity

4. Personal Qualities:

At the end of each scholastic year every Form Teacher will assign a maximum of five personal qualities to every student in the Form Class. These qualities will in no way determine whcih level or no level certificate the student will obtain.  Parents will be informed of the above mentioned information attained by their son/daughter during that scholastic year in the Annual Exam Result.

5. The Final Level:

All information collated in the Middle school will be forwarded to the Secondary school for the final levels to be worked out.  This information will then be included in the School leaving certificate.

Fl-aħħar tal-Ħames sena Sekondarja kull student/a ser tirċievi s-Secondary School Certificate & Profile (SSC & P). Dan iċ-ċertifikat jiġbor fih dak kollu li għandu x’jaqsam mat-tifel/tifla tagħkom matul il-ħames snin ta’ skola sekondarja. Iċ-Ċertifikat tal-SSC & P jista’ jkun ċertifikat ta’ Livell 1 jew ta’ Livell 2, rikonoxxut mill-Malta Qualifications Framework (MQF) u anki mill-European Qualifications Framework (EQF). Però jekk student/a ma tilħaqx il-kriterji stabbiliti sabiex tkun tista’ tirċievi ċertifikat ta’ Livell 1 jew Livell 2, hi/hu tirċievi ċertifikat bla livell li jindika biss li l-istudenta tkun spiċċat il-kors ta’ skola sekondarja. Dan iċ-ċertifikat mhux rikonoxxut mill-MQF u EQF. Il-kriterji stabbiliti li l-istudent/a trid tilħaq sabiex tirċievi ċertifikat ta’ Livell 1 jew 2 huma kif ġej:

  1. Attendenza:

Mill-inqas 85% ta’ attendenza għall-ġranet ta’ skola matul KULL sena ta’ skola sekondarja.

L-istudent/a trid iġġib pass mark almenu fis-suġġetti bażiċi tal-Malti, l-Ingliż u l-Matematika. L-istudent/a ma tkunx tista’ tikseb Livell 1 jew 2 jekk ma tgħaddix minn wieħed jew iktar mis-suġġetti bażiċi.

  1. Edukazzjoni Informali (Informal Education):

Din is-sezzjoni ġġorr 15% tal-marka finali u tikkonsisti fl-attivitajiet li l-istudent/a tagħmel wara l-ħinijiet tal-iskola bħal korsijiet jew jekk tattendi xi organizzazzjonijiet. Dawn l-attivitajiet m’għadhomx obbligatorji biex student/a takkwista livell IMMA kull attivita’ li l-istudent/a tieħu sehem fiha tgħin fil-kisba ta’ livell kif ġej:

Attivita’ waħda (1) = 5%; Żewġ attivitajiet = 10%; u Tliet (3) attivitajiet = 15%.

  1. Edukazzjoni Mhux Formali (Non–Formal Education)

Din is-sezzjoni ġġorr 35% tal-marka finali u tikkonsisti fl-attivitajiet li l-istudent/a tagħmel regolarment waqt il-brejk ta’ nofsinhar. Kull student/a għandu jkollha minimu ta’ 3 ATTIVITAJIET MHUX FORMALI mifruxin fuq tal-inqas 3 snin.
